We got a call about a month ago from Ford Racing asking if we would be interested in working on a 2010 Cobra Jet convertible! Of course, we jumped at the opportunity to be involved.
This is THE ONLY 3v Cobra Jet EVER MADE... and to top it off, its only the 2nd convertible ever made. We had to pull the motor and replace the heads, retune it for the new heads and cams, and then go to the track with the customer at the NHRA Summer Nationals at Commerce this past weekend. We ended up qualifying #2.
For those that don't know, we were selected BY FORD RACING to complete this coyote swap at the Fords of Carlisle event in Carlisle, PA June 3-5th.. People will be able to watch the swap LIVE via webcam. We have to drive the car with the pushrod motor into the staging area on Friday morning and complete the swap by saturday evening. The swap will be in front of 20k+ people, live! Below will be a timeline of the preparations before the event. In addition to getting painted, the car will have all new interior and exterior trim pieces, new wheels, new 4-wheel disc brakes, new suspension, etc... it will be a 100% NEW CAR!
We started the "new" coyote foxbody build this week (4/12/11)! The car has been sitting in a field for some time, but is probably the CLEANEST chassis I have ever seen! We are going to update this thread as the build goes on. The body is getting dropped off at the painters on Monday (4/25/11) and should take about 2 weeks until we get it back. The color i have chosen is Kona Blue! Anyhow, here are some "before" pics..
